Dr. Helen Oliver is a writer and educator born on the island of Montserrat in the Eastern Caribbean. She grew up in London, England and moved to the United States in 1980 living in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Mississippi where she currently resides with her daughter. She is an amateur poet, writer of children’s books, peer reviewed articles and book chapters. She likes to cook, propagate plants, travel and meeting new and exciting people. She holds the Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Master’s degrees in Educational Psychology and Business Administration. Child advocacy and education has been her passion throughout her career in education – from teaching in the United Kingdom and in the United States. She runs a non-profit organization for at-risk children supported by funding from local and state government. She currently serves as Associate Professor at Rust College located in Mississippi where her administrative duties include coordinating the online program. She is also an adjunct professor at Argosy University Online teaching courses in Marketing. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writer’s and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the Holly Springs-Marshall County Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Society, Inc (DSTS).
